"It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop." Confucius
Patricia O'Brien
I enjoyed my first painting lesson 30 years ago at the easel of a wonderful aunt … Life was wonderfully busy at that time, so for the next several years my brushes remained packed away. Fast forward (or at least, forward) to 2011 and I began painting in earnest with my wonderful teacher, Pat Hidson.
About five years ago, I offered my paintings for sale for the first time as part of a local marketplace event — I was anxious, to say the least, about what the response would be. The delight I felt at the reaction to (and the sales of) my small paintings far outweighed my apprehension. I continue to be part of this marketplace every year.
I have wanted to host a Studio Sale of my paintings (and drawings) for a few years. As I prepare for my very first Sale at the end of this month, my lack of confidence as I procrastinated over the past several years seems a waste of energy …. Here’s hoping I remember how important/productive it is to spend a fair amount of time outside of my comfort zone as I grow this painting business.
